This is getting interesting. Date seems to be known for being dark, so the possibility that the slime is eating people to take their forms is very likely. The alternative would be that Takamiya is actually a slime girl and sent a part of herself to chase after the protag, and sort of reunited herself in this chapter. That, however, doesn't explain how the slime knows so much about some of the shapes it takes up (like the girl in the first chapter being a university student, or Shimamoto's habits and being in the swimming club).

This story line is getting good. I hope the next one is great.
